About Davina

Hi, I’m Davina Chessid, author of Food Crazy Mind and The Self-Help Journaling Method.

For years, I lived inside the exhausting cycle of food obsession. I felt sad, disappointed, ashamed, and confused by my own behavior. I kept thinking I needed more discipline, more control, or a better plan. What I really needed was a way to understand what was happening.

I didn’t set out to write a book; I set out to understand myself. That journey became Food Crazy Mind. It’s a deeply personal book for anyone who has ever wondered, “Why do I keep doing this?” when it comes to food.

Over time, that work grew into something broader. I began to see that the same patterns that show up around food can also show up in procrastination, avoidance, negative thinking, self-sabotage, and other self-defeating cycles. They often have one painful thing in common: knowing what to do, but not being able to follow through.

That realization led me to create The Self-Help Journaling Method, a structured way to use journaling to recognize recurring patterns, organize insights, and begin rebuilding the trust that repeated self-sabotage can erode. It’s designed to help readers work through the patterns that keep them stuck, step by step.

Both books come from the same place: the belief that you don’t have to force yourself into change. You can learn to understand yourself, work with yourself, and still move forward in a real and compassionate way. Change begins with self-awareness, and clarity brings more peace than rigid control.
